Backing and ranges

How a liquidity provider backs a market with an amount and their own price range, and what makes each strategy unique.

Your liquidity stays in the asset vault

You lock liquidity once, into the asset vault for that token on that chain. Backing a strategy never moves it. Each backing is a virtual amount with your own price range on top, so one locked-liquidity position can back several strategies at once without being split up front.

  • A swap only uses your liquidity while the price is inside your range.
  • Your backing behaves like a Uniswap position in your range. Swaps never sell more than it holds, and swaps in the other direction refill it.
  • Every fill names the liquidity providers it draws on and checks each one's real balance at that moment.
  • There is no limit on how many liquidity providers lock liquidity into an asset vault or back the same strategy.

Your backed amounts can add up to more than you locked. The balance check at fill time is what keeps that safe.

Markets and strategies

A strategy is one market on one venue, and it stays bound to that market for life.

VenueWhat makes a strategy unique
Uniswap V4The pair and the fee. The strategy is the pool, and each pair and fee has one pool.
1inch AquaThe pair, the fee and the range. Each range is its own strategy, on the same price grid as Uniswap V4.
Orca and Raydium on SolanaThe pool, meaning the pair and its fee tier. Each pool has one strategy.

Aqua0 opens each new market at the price-feed price. Nobody owns a strategy, so nobody can squat on a market or move it.

The Strategies page shows each strategy's TVL and its volume over the last day (Vol 1d), on every venue.

Backing a market

  1. Pick a pair and a fee tier. Each pair and fee is one market.
  2. Pick a range. The Ranges list shows the ranges that already have liquidity on that market. Join one, set your own minimum and maximum price, or take the full range (on 1inch Aqua, a very wide range). Backing is always both sides, so a range must contain the current price.
  3. Enter the amount to back. The other token's amount follows from your range and the current price.
  4. Sign. Your liquidity stays in the asset vault. Your backing starts at once on Uniswap V4 and on Solana. On 1inch Aqua it joins the range's program at its next cycle.

The same flow works on every venue. On 1inch Aqua, joining a range means backing that range's strategy, and setting a new range starts a new one.

How each venue fills

  • Uniswap V4: each swap's authorization names the liquidity providers it draws on and the range of each. The hook adds each one's position in their own range for the length of the swap, so a swap sells from a position only what it holds, and a reverse swap refills it.
  • 1inch Aqua: the liquidity providers who back the same range share one 1inch Aqua program. Each backer's slice is reserved in their own asset vault, swaps move the program's totals, and each cycle of the program settles the slices pro rata, by the liquidity each backer provided.
  • Orca and Raydium on Solana: each backing is its own position, with an amount on both sides and its own range, and you can hold several positions on one pool. A swap names up to 16 positions it draws on. Each position sells only the part of its holding that lies inside the swap's price range, as a Uniswap position does, and a swap the other way refills it.

Earnings

Your share of each swap, fee included, lands straight in your locked liquidity in the asset vault. There is no separate balance to claim, and a withdrawal covers everything that is free. On 1inch Aqua, earnings land at each cycle of the range's program. On Orca and Raydium, your fee income goes to your principal rather than back into the position, so you can withdraw it at any time.

Aqua0's share of each swap fee is 20% today, and the liquidity providers keep 80%. The share comes out of the liquidity providers' part, so traders pay the same price. It works the same way on every venue.

Profile shows the fees you have earned, in total and for each asset vault, split by venue.
